They're our favorite scriptures in the Bible. They encourage us, they boost our faith, they make us love God even more and cause us to erupt with praise - Promises! "I will never leave you nor forsake you", "Do not fear, for I am with you", "The Lord will fight for you", "All things God works for the good". There are so many promises that God gives us in His Word. Promises to hold on to when everything around us seem to go wrong. Promises give us hope that there is a future, that greater things are still to come. But in reality, these promises are not going to fall out of the sky. We have our role to play!
James 2:24 says that a believer is justified by works and not by faith alone, that is, by acts of obedience a born-again believer reveals his faith! Romans 2:13 says that just knowing what God says is not enough, but doing what He says makes us right with Him. What am I teaching you today? To know these scriptures by heart is not enough, we have to pray them, declare them and apply them by faith for those promises to become reality! What does that sound like? Let's take one of God's Promises to us from scripture: Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear; for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." Now join me as I pray...
Thank You Father for your promise to me. Thank You that I don't have to fear, I don't have to worry, I don't have to let fear rule me, because You promise me that You are always with me. Thank You that I don't have to become dismayed, discouraged because my God is on my side. Thank You that You strengthen me and help me in everything I need to face. Thank You that You will uphold me, sustain me, when I feel that there's nothing left, You will be there! I will not let doubt and fear tell me any different because I stand upon this Promise today in Jesus Name! Amen!
