When someone is intimidating you, it means, they are trying to scare you, terrorize you, make you subdued, discourage you, trying to dominate you and push you around. They are trying to twist your arm and pressurize you.
Now, read this:
1 Pet 5:8 "be sober-minded. Your adversary the devil prowls around LIKE a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." He's not a lion, he's just intimidating.
And yet, the Bible also says:
Prov 28:1 "The wicked flee when no one pursues them, but the righteous ARE AS BOLD as a lion."
The devil is like a predator: it waits when you are at your most vulnerable, most tired, most scared, to strike! This is the only reason the Bible says the devil is like a lion. But YOU are a lion! You should be bold and confident and brave, even when you face danger and intimidation! It's not sin be scared, but it becomes sin when you allow fear to control your emotions and dictate the decisions you make. Remember, Jesus was scared too! He was very scared in the Garden of Gethsemane, BUT He continued to obey His Father.
Satan uses our circumstances to intimidate us, to only look at the physical, what we see with our eyes, and he uses what we see and how we feel, to scare us, subdue us, discourage us. He is trying to dominate you and "twist your arm" to make the wrong decisions.
I know it doesn't feel like it, but when the devil is intimidating you, your faith is being tested! These experiences are producing endurance that is leading to spiritual maturity and inner peace. You are being perfected and developed in your faith! - James 1:2-4 (Amplified)
I served under a preacher that always said the following: challenges are my best friend! I know it sounds crazy, but it's true! Remember how Paul suffered in his body for Christ? 2 Cor 11:23 - "imprisonments, countless beatings and often near death!" But what did Paul do? He kept going! Even stronger than before! Yes, pressure comes, yes, challenges come and sometimes they are scary! What has been coming against you? What is satan using to intimidate you? Don't allow your fearful situation cause you to renounce your faith in God! Don't allow the pressure and opinions of people make you cower and run away from God!
Paul said: "I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me! For the sake of Christ, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Now that you know that satan uses your experiences in life to intimidate you, now that you know he is doing it to dominate you and push you around - don't give in to fear. Don't give in to intimidation. You are a lion! You are bold! God has given you everything you need to get through this! Don't make decisions out of fear! Don't speak doubt and unbelief! Stand strong! God has your back and what He promised you, He will do!
